East Carson Street Closed This Weekend on South Side in Pittsburgh

PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists East Carson Street (Route 837) on the South Side in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will be closed in both directions this weekend, July 16-18, weather permitting.

The closure will occur from 9 p.m. on Friday through 4 p.m. on Sunday. East Carson Street will be closed between Hot Metal Street and Becks Run Road. Police will assist with traffic movements. Crews will be milling and paving on East Carson Street. Signs will be posted to guide motorists.

Posted detour:
Westbound
·      Cross the Glenwood Bridge to Second Avenue
·      Follow Second Avenue to the Hot Metal Street Bridge
·      Make left onto the Hot Metal Street Bridge
·      Cross Hot Metal Street Bridge to East Carson Street
·      End detour
Eastbound
·      Same detour in opposite direction

Park at the Club:
Serb Club regulars know that a parking lot is to the right of the club, and extra parking is usually available in the evening for Srpska Noc and other club events in several Goodwill parking lots on 26th Street between Sarah & Jane Streets.

But not everyone realizes that safe and covered parking is available at one of the South Side Works garages just one and a half blocks away for $3 after 5 from Friday to Sunday. The parking garage is on the opposite side of Carson Street, closer to the river from the club. Just park at the corner of Sidney Street and 25th Street, then walk a few dozen steps to the club. Safe, secure, and inexpensive parking!

DIRECTIONS the old-fashioned way:

FROM THE NORTH (from Cranberry, the North Hills, Buffalo, Canadia, Santaland)
1. Take I 279 South towards Pittsburgh and exit onto the Veterans Bridge.
2. As you cross the bridge, bear right and take the Sixth Ave. exit.
3. Bear to the left and follow signs towards Sixth Ave, and then cross over Sixth Ave.
4. Stay straight on Ross St. traveling through town and through several traffic lights.
5. Turn left at the overpass onto 2nd Ave.
6. Travel through six traffic lights (past the Pittsburgh Technology Center).
7. Turn onto HOT METAL STREET BRIDGE.
8. Follow directions below FROM THE HOT METAL STREET BRIDGE

FROM THE EAST (from Monroeville, Greensburg, Serbia, Macedonia)
1. Take I376 West toward Pittsburgh.
2. Exit at Glenwood #3A
3. Turn right onto Bates St (Rt. 885).
4. Turn left at the bottom of the hill onto 2nd Ave.
5. Turn onto HOT METAL STREET BRIDGE.
6. Follow directions below FROM THE HOT METAL STREET BRIDGE

SOUTH AND WEST (from the airport, Aliquippa, Chicago, Phoenix)
1. Take I 79 North to I 279 North toward Pittsburgh.
2. Go through the tunnels then stay to the right toward Monroeville.
3. Exit left at Grant St.
4. Go through the first light off the exit
5. Turn right at the next light onto 1st Ave.
6. Take the first left onto Ross St.
7. Take the immediate right onto 2nd Ave.
8. Travel through approximately six traffic lights (past Pittsburgh Technology Center).
9. Turn onto HOT METAL STREET BRIDGE.
10. Follow directions below FROM THE HOT METAL STREET BRIDGE

FROM THE HOT METAL STREET BRIDGE
1. Turn onto the Hot Metal St. Bridge.
2. Turn right at the end of the bridge onto Carson St.
3. Turn left onto 26th St.
4. Turn right at the first stop sign on to Sarah Street, the club will be on your left: 2524 Sarah Street, the yellow-brick building with the green awning, next to Unique Pizza.
